CNI Type 22 is a firm, porous composite of carbon fibers connected by a nanostructured carbon matrix. The properties of the material are close to those of a human bone. CNI Type 22 is used for osteosynthesis and is intended for full or partial replacement of intervertebral discs; can be combined with autogenous bone.
CNI Type 22 is indicated for use in intervertebral disc replacement for degenerative lesions thereof.
Based on a CT scan, the location of the pathologically altered disc is established. The vertebral arch is exposed through a posterior approach; a laminectomy is performed in order to access the degeneratively altered disc (PLIF), or a resection of intervertebral joints is carried out (TLIF).
Once the disc is removed, one of the implants chosen in the catalog is inserted into the resulting diastasis between the vertebrae; upon its fixation the wound is sutured.
